WATER FILTRATION PROJECTS

Helping villages learn the science and how to physically construct low cost and long use bio-sand water filters to provide clean water to every household in the village. MAO has worked with two Tai / Shan villages where the community came together to support.

EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP

Working together with local communities to contribute 50% of the costs of hostel fees to attend school in Lashio, as their villages don’t have education past primary school. The wealth of the community is their people and if we can have a part in championing the next generation, it will bring development for families and their community as a whole.

HEALTH EDUCATION

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, most villages were in the dark about COVID, how to prevent the spread, and how to care for their villagers in the event that it makes its way to their isolated communities. We provided training to village leaders and designated nurses for the village, and some emergency medicine should severe COVID cases impact people in their village.

EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF

Receiving donations from our past adventure tour clients, we supported communities that had been shut out of Lashio due to COVID restrictions, and were unable to buy or sell in the city, making for a cash crunch and food crisis in remote communities where cultivatable farm land is a premium.

ENVIRONMENTAL CARE

MAO initiated a partnership with Trash Hero Myanmar and launched the Trash Hero Lashio chapter, arranging cleanups of Lashio city twice per month. After spending much of our time exploring beautiful natural sites around Lashio, we discovered that many from the community shared our love of nature, however we also found that people from Lashio city were the greatest polluters of these places. Our desire to clean up these areas required not just cleaning up waterfalls, but also attempting to inspire a movement in the city of Lashio.
